AUTHORIZATION FORM

The Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church is sponsoring a religious retreat at  Cedar Lake Ministries,  13701 Lauerman St., ,  Cedar Lake, IN 46303 from June 18 – June 21, 2025.  I understand this document is an authorization granting the church permission to take the above named individuals to the retreat.  Full authority is granted to Mt. Hebron to supervise and instruct the same.  I do further agree to indemnify, protect and hold harmless said church, its officers, board members, supervisors, agents, servants, employees and all private persons or organizations  to supervise or chaperone minor participants in this retreat excursion while engaged in this retreat (and its activities) including travel to and from, from any claim or liability whatsoever, including but not limited to, personal injury, property damage, court costs, attorneys’ fees and interest, however caused, as a result of the minor participating in the religious retreat.

I further agree to pay for all damages caused by the above named individuals to the retreat facility or the bus, as well as any injuries/illnesses sustained by or caused by the same.

I hereby authorize Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church and its designated representatives to obtain reasonable medical care and emergency services in case such circumstance presents itself.  I further hold harmless Mt. Hebron and its representatives of any liability due to such medical care and emergency service as provided.

I further agree that Mt. Hebron, its officers, agents, and/or employees reserve the right to terminate the participation of the minor for failure to behave and act in accordance with the church’s regulations and instructions on conduct, for failure to follow instructions and directions of the retreat supervisors and/or chaperones, or for any acts of the minor deemed by the board, its officers, agents, and/or employees to be detrimental to or incompatible with the interest, harmony, comfort or welfare of the retreat as a whole.  If the participation of the minor is terminated, the minor shall be escorted home at the expense of the parent or guardian.  No refunds will be granted.

I further agree Mt. Hebron, its officers, agents and/or employees reserve the right at any time prior to or during the retreat, to make cancellation, changes or substitutions in emergencies or changed conditions or in the interest of the group, and to alter, prior to the retreat departure to meet unexpected changes in fares, hotel rates, etc.

Refund policy:  I understand and agree that if Mt. Hebron cancels the retreat for any reason, refunds will be granted.  However, if I should have to cancel for any reason,  no refunds will be granted  after June 1, 2025.

WOMEN MATTER

THEME: WOMEN MATTER–An in-depth study of the contributions and exploits of women in the bible.

Our lives are very busy with children, spouses, siblings, parents, work, school, etc. As much as we try spending quality time with the Lord it can be challenging. Distractions, excuses and good intentions all play a role in creating stumbling blocks towards achieving this worthwhile goal. In a beautiful, serene setting away from the everyday challenges of life, you will discover that you can spend quality time, studying, worshipping and praising the Lord and enjoy it!

What Can I Expect at Mt. Hebron’s Gospel Retreat?

In-depth Bible Studies

Age appropriate materials have been developed for three classes:  youth 8-12, teens 13 to 18 and adults.  Bible study materials are accompanied by coloring pages (for youth 8-12), memory games, mazes etc to reinforce concepts that are being taught

Teens are involved in discussions which help them dig a little deeper in understanding background information on the bible passages being taught. 

Adults rarely finish lessons on time.  Their discussions are very involved as they enthusiastically delve into their studies.

Beautiful Setting

Traditionally Mt Hebron’s retreats have been held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin or Cedar Lake, Indiana.  These are camps designed especially for Christian Retreats. The grounds are beautifully maintained.  The housing is very comfortable.  Air conditioning is provided in the summer and heat in the winter

Swimming, wall climbing, canoeing, kayaking, basketball, softball, zip lines, archery etc. are some of the activities offered at these camps. We do incorporate some of these activities in our retreat every year.

Friendly Competitions

Early on during the retreat all participants are divided into teams.  Various activities outside of the classroom have been devised so that teams mixed with youth, teens and adults can work together to earn points.  To the adults (don’t worry) if the activity is too strenuous, we ask that you support your team by cheering them on. Retreaters might be involved in sack races, egg toss, water balloon toss, tug of war, etc.

Our final team effort is part of our closing session. Teams face off in a friendly game where participants are asked questions from materials that have been studied throughout the retreat.  Points from all team activities are added together and prizes are awarded.  There is never a loser.  The team with the highest amount of points pick their prizes first.  The remaining participants then pick a prize.

Fellowship

Our retreaters who have moved away, have sacrificed their resources to come back when they can to attend the retreat. Over the years our retreaters have made friends from across the country.  Adults and youth alike catch up with old friends.  New friendships are established each year.  In 2024, retreaters were from five states: IL,IN,NC, OH and FL.  This included 11 cities:  Chicago, IL; Decatur, IL; Findlay, IL; Country Club Hills, IL; Maywood, IL; South Holland, IL; Gary, IN; Merrillville, IN; Dayton, OH; Winston-Salem, NC and Pensacola, FL.

The Invitation

Please join us for our 38th Annual Gospel Retreat in Cedar Lake, Indiana.  If you are 8 or older, we invite you to join us. Activities are planned for youth, teens and adults.  Yes bible class and worship is a key part of the retreat but we play team sports, relax, swim (if circumstances allow it), participate in arts and crafts projects, and/or lounge around and catch up with our retreat friends that we have made over the years.

FEES
$375 – Ages 1 9– up
$275 – Ages 8 – 18

The fees include round trip transportation, 10 hot meals, a retreat tee shirt, study materials, craft material, a retreat book bag and a souvenir photograph.
